United-States Two Spoke Petition

Can we get together, those of us who dislike the 3-spoke Steering Wheel, and put a petition together... any suggestions on how to do that?

IMHO, the 3 SPOKE looks so lame next to the 2 SPOKE... and the 2 SPOKE was so much nice to use!

3-spoke TOO BULKY

The three spoke design is altogether too bulky looking. Too bulky to look retro, even. How about something along the lines of the (few) MOMO steering wheels which might support an airbag <momo.it/momoeng/set1.html>. I would be happy to petition MINI to keep the two-spoke wheel as an option.

I lke it, it has a nice feel to it. But they should have kept it as an optyion, I don't know why they deleted it.

Just my personal opinion:

The 2-spoke was ugly as hell and I love the sportier 3-spoke.

whats the petition about?

you can still get both wheels, so you have a choice

GF had a convertible delivered on the 1st of Sept, Cooper with Chilli pack (so was entitled to 3 spoke) but had a 2 spoke as she prefers that.

I added a to the thread title so everyone knows this refers to the US where only the 3-spoke steering wheel is available.

2 spoke is a little more comfortable IMO. The thumb grips are shaped better, and you get a little more control of the radio with the buttons on the back. I prefer that mechanism to the little circular thumb pad on the 3-spoke.

Glad its still retrofittable, but the 2-spoke should still be an option. Even if only with the MFSW, or at least just the Leather steering wheel. I never liked the plastic 2-spoke that used to come on the Cooper.

Not sure how you would go about starting a petition to keep the 2-spoke wheel but I would sign it in a flash. I really like the look of the 2-spoke, and the position of the multi-function buttons.

Why do they make the cars so different from one country to another when it has nothing to do with Federal regulations? You would think the cars would be essentially the same aside from minor differences associated with differing Fed regs.

Rear fogs is another item that comes top mind. Not only do other countries get the rear fogs, but other manufacturers such as Audi & Volvo market their cars in the USA with rear fogs.

England gets a trailer hitch but it is NOT available in the USA. WHY?

I'll sign in a minute. ESPECIALLY if they're available in other markets. Help us out here, MINI USA! The three spoke does feel ok, but I prefer the look and button layout of the two spoke (especially the leather sport wheel.)

I picked up my Cooper yesterday & was expecting a three spoke, but got a two.

At first I was kinda not happy, but now I am used to the idea I am getting to like it - the leather is really tasty & it is very comfortable & more 'MINI' like than the three spoke which the dealer herself described as more 'BMW' like...

I feel your pain, but you will love whatever you get in your car...

. To each their own, I guess. When I first saw a MINI two years ago the first thing I thought when I looked at the interior was what a stupid and ugly two-spoke steering wheel - looked like something in an old fart's Buick sedan or something - definitely not sporty looking. Fortunately, the three-spoke steering wheel became an option in early 2004 and that's when I ordered my '04 MC. Yep, that's right, I would not have gotten a MINI if I would have had to live with that butt-ugly two-spoke wheel!

The 2 spoke is perfect for the MINI. It was part of the original design and is supposed to echo the shape of the dash. Once you start poncing about and adding dodgy looking 3 spokes you might as well start chucking out the interior wholesale.
