Interior Lighting Package - Yes or No?

OK, real quick question cos I’m going to need to tell my dealer today (I’m maybe too late by now anyway), but Interior Lighting Package – worth £100 or not?

The sooner they start building my MCS the better – I just seem to keep adding things to my spec every week. I think they only keep slipping my delivery date in the hope that I’ll just add something else!

I know the problem Nightfox... it gets expensive doesn't it - I'm telling myself that my final order changes yesterday (adding DSC and removing stripes - going to get my own) are the LAST ones!!!

And, yes, I have the Interior Lighting package on my spec - i can't remember for the life of me what exactly i get for my money I just know i'm getting it . I long ago lost the power of logic in terms of my MCS order ;-)

Is it not part of the chilli pack? If it is in the chilli pack then I have it, if not, should I order it??? What do you get?

You can say that again – I’ve now spent more than the cost of the Chili Pack just to get some of the things that are in the Chili Pack – annoying, but I just didn’t want those 17” wheels; my dealer couldn’t help me, and I didn’t want to go through the buy an extra set of 16”s and sell the 17”s on e-bay. I want to get the car I want from the dealer.

And the ultimate irony? It’s not even my car – it’ll be the wife’s and I’m not sure I’ll even get much chance to drive it!

Nightfox, I was in exactly the same predicament as you- didn't want the 17"s, didn't really care for aircon or leather, but wanted xenons, sunroof and other stuff. As it happened, I thought the map reading lights were standard, turns out they're not -my new car just has a stinky plastic plate that lights up at night to tell you you were too cheap to spec the light package!
So if you want the map reading lights, spec the light pack!

I think it was actually one of your similar posts elsewhere that got me looking at this - up till then I had just been thinking "oooo.. they sound nice - should I or shouldn't I?", but when I read that it actually looks a bit pants without them I started worrying a bit.

Anyway, I've just phoned my dealer to say add'em on - she's just checking to see if I'm in time. Still, looking on the bright side, last time I added something to my spec, they gave me a £100 discount off my final price without even telling me, so I suppose I could look at it that I'm getting these for free.

there is no "lighting package" in the US, right? it comes standard with whatever interior lighting and you can't add any more? (cept plug-in map light at dealer)

Well, you persuaded me (doesn't take much), and my dealer's added it to my spec (ker-CHING!). Although it hasn't changed my delivery date (15th October), I was quite surprised when they said that some options can make a difference - I did notice that when I added Xenons earlier my date slipped by a week. Does the Xenons man only come in every other week or something?

How long does a MINI actually take to go through production anyway? With only a month to go, my delivery date still seems to change depending on the wind speed and the phase of the moon. I thought they would have started something by now?

My courtesy car had the interior light package and I thought it was quite good. No follow me home lights though???????????????????

Oooh Nightfox you have a DATE .. all I know is that I'm October - based on experience from our dealer they don't seem to confirm dates until the beginning of the delivery month.

I do know that I was the last slot on the October schedule so I'm assuming I'll be right at the end of the month, but perhaps the guys in Cowley will realise how desperate I am and deliver mine early (ok a girl can dream ;-) )

I'm telling myself that i've specced my car to death (and more than emptied my wallet (erm loan) with the spec so far so I'm really trying not to even consider anything else ;-)

Excuse my ignorance but what are these follow me home lights I keep seeing dotted about the forum?
