Anthracite Headliner in Nov???

Right before heading out to order my MINI (been waiting FOURYEARS!) saw the anthracite headliner added into the configurator for $200. The dealer had NO IDEA what i was even talking about and said the factory computer didn't recognise the code. i saw on motoringfile that it will be available for november builds. is this accurate? and will i have to wait until november to place the order? hard to wait but the headliner is too cool to let pass with only a month extra!

November builds imply you would order about 5 weeks before your car is built at the shortest. So if you wanted to be right at the beginning, the latest you could order is right about now. Of course dealers usually let you order a bit earlier then the 5 weeks, so you may find if you order now, your car wouldn't be made until later, since that's what build slots are open.

In any case, I'd trust motoringfile, and not dealers (they generally are the last to know anything) but perhaps you weren't trying to order a car for November, so maybe it can't be recognized. If you want the Anthracite headliner, I'd order and make sure your dealer knows you want it, and they can put your car in as soon as its available, so hopefully for an early November build and Dec or so delivery.

I wouldn't order until the dealer can spec it in the computer. I went through a nightmare trying to get my anthracite headliner. Dealer didn't know anything about it and said it wasn't on the computer until after I got my production number. I eventually had it added when I called up and asked if they saw the Mini USA memo about the anthracite headliner that I had seen on motoringfile.

Stryder is right, Motoringfile always has more info than the dealers have. Maybe the dealers aren't checking their minidealernet thingy enough.

I ordered my 05 in June with Anthracite headliner and anthracite trim. The dealer knew what I was talking about and there was no problem getting it. Guess it just depends on the dealer. You should be able to modify the order right up to production date, so if you order about now, and request a November build allotment, there should be no problem getting Anthracite anything.

well, i called the dealer this morning and he said that they aren't even showing the anthracite headliner at week 47 (supposed to be avail. week 46). i placed the order and asked if i had any chance of changing if it did become available and he said no. does this sound right? really wanted to get it but my current car is on last legs (wheels?) and can't wait.

the anthracite headliner even shows on MINI USA now, so i'm not sure why your dealer is still saying no. I say you go to MINIUSA.com spec your car WITH the anthracite headliner, print it out, give it to your dealer and say... here i want this.

That for October builds you can not get the Anthracite headliner, but in November you can, for the $200 that miniusa.com is showing. BUT, also the car itself goes up $500 that month also, so in fact in my case, an October build, if I could swap it with someone not wanting anthracite and getting an earlier car, I would be out $700. !!

are you sure about that.. i thought the $500 price increase won't take into effect until 01/05 production as this is when they are adding more options and such. I have an ordered MC, and right now at the owner's lounge it's still at on order. My dealer didn't say anything about a price increase. Also all news have claimed that the price increase won't be until 01/05 production... it better be..

I think price increase is actually all cars delivered after Jan 1st 2005. So if you have a late Nov or Dec Build, it would affect you.

There aren't any real free things for 1/05 production, just more options, so its not a $500 price to get things that are free, its just MINIs technique for raising the price at a convienent date. July 2004 started the '05 production with all the 'new' stuff, 1/05 just allows you to pay extra to get an automatic, or auto lights or an arm rest.

phew... i'm already on order and i'm supposed to be getting late november so I should be okay then. So reydo, it seems there is a time slot in which you can get the headliner w/o paying the extra 500 and the time is now. Hopefully you get things figured out soon so you don't get hit with the $500 price increase.
