BMW iPod Ice Link questions

After wading through 19+ pages on another thread regarding the "Dennison ice link," I have questions about the BMW iPod ice link. I was told by the dealer that the songs on the playlists would NOT appear on the Boost radio, but WOULD appear on the iPod itself. Not exactly what I wanted, but I thought, OK, I can live with this. But now there is no song titles on the playlists anywhere. Not on the iPod; not on the Boost radio. Is this right? How do I know the titles of what's playing.
Anyone have answers? Or did they hook this up wrong?

From my understanding the BMW ipod adapter will NOT display anything, anywhere on a standard MINI head unit or on the ipod. I believe the ipod will display "MINI" when connected.

Hope this helps. I ordered the ice>link, and although I have been having some problems with it, it works pretty well for the most part.

Thanks

Thanks. That's what I was afraid of. The sound is good. I just don't know what's playing. Sort of a stupid set-up. When I was buying it at the dealership, they told me it would do all sorts of things. It doesn't. For this price I could have bought a new head unit with an aux link.

I'm curious, what generation iPod do you have. My Gen3 doesn't show anything, other than MINI. But I've been wondering if a Gen4 might be different. There was a report on some forum (prior to my buying the adapter) of it showing album cover art and song that is playing...so I'm guessing the person was either using the iPod photo or the Gen4 iPod.

I have a G-4 Mini. And I'd like to know what kind of set up your friend had that showed the tracks. The sound is good, as I said, but I just think something is missing. Of course, when I asked the dealer if it showed the songs, he said, "Oh, sure it does." I also asked if it charged the unit while playing. He said, "No." Well, you know that isn't true. It does charge. It even says that in the Owner's Manual I was given. I just wrote a series of articles about how technology has taken over my life. I used to care how things worked. Now I don't care. I just want them to work. Period.
