Removing Centre console on 05 Model

The 05 models have a different centre console around the handbrake..... How do i remove this?

The reason: Im installing a new cd player and need to move the centre console back about 5cm but cant because the 05s have an extra console around the handbrake area.

Question: If i unscrew the screw in the rear cup holder on the console that goes around the handbrake... will this allow me enough room to slide the front part of the console back enough to get the pillars out and therefore install my new cd player?

Im confused now! Are you??

Follow the link below to the FAQ and DIY section

This faq gives information on how to remove the bits restricting you fitting a stereo.
There is no real difference between removing the bits on an 05 model to doing the same on earlier models

If you remove the downtubes, you can remove the trim piece without needing to move the cupholders, gear shift, etc, etc. Just twist and lift it up to get the tab out. It is a very flexible piece, luckily.
