help and advice needed!

i have brought a new speedo + rev tacho (sat nav option) and my brother said that the tacho system stores the information about milage ect and if its changed then the data is lost

is this true? plz help!!

dont panic the main computer is located in the centre speedo
or the sat nav unit
the tacho or tacho/speedo as in a sat nav car
are only auxiliary units
if you order a new mini you and you dont order the tacho it can be retrofitted later without any hassle well the same goes for the sat nav speedo/tacho combi
i can fit a speedo/tacho combi to my mini even if i dont have sat nav
they are only auxliiary nodes on the canbus
fed from the central computer
