Black Cooper auto dimming mirror

does any one know if I can replace my regular mirror with an auto dimming mirror. I have a 2005 MINI

Sure it would be possible (isn't everything), but I've never seen it done. The hardest part would be getting it to work like the standard mirrors, which shut off when you put into reverse. All the other functions are pretty much built in to the mirror itself. Not sure about wiring loom etc though.

Eh? What are you on about mate

I think that it'll just be a 12V connection needed, shouldn't be too hard to retrofit.

When you put the car into reverse, it disables the dipping feature, that's what I'm on about.

Yeah I presume there is a wiring loom engaged with Reverse functions?

Yep, which is why I only realised this when I was told. Also, if you're blinded by something in your mirror at night, surely you'd still want it to be dipped if you were looking back to reverse?! Someone obviously thinks it's a good idea though.
