Unhappy Changing Speedo - How far has your mini travelled

Sad to say that my mini has made it as far as the UK. Yes folks, you will no longer see COOP3R 5 in Perth. I've taken it back to the UK after breaking up with my husband and having to go back to the UK, very reluctantly I must say. Thought it would be easy to get it registered in the UK but having severe difficulties because of the odometer being in KPH. It's not easy to convert because the rev counter in the UK is where the odometer is in oz and BMW in UK say it can't be changed. Having severe problems, so if anyone has a solution I'd love to hear from them

First off, very sorry to hear of your marrage problems It must be a very hard time for you.

Regarding the car, you have to change the car IKU as well as far as I know, as well as codes in 3? different places. You need a brand new speedo and tacho, and IKU unit at the least.

Might be worth talking to the Irish guys about it as they've just changed from MPH to KMPH if I recall correctly and they're changing their speedos.

Sorry to hear of your troubles vonny

Maybe you can get a UK spec dash and other bits you need at a wreckers, try www.newminiparts.co.uk they seem to have plenty of damaged MINIs.

Hope everything works out for you.

This won't work - the speedo can't be transferred over unless its pretty low K's.

Sorry to here about your problems.

But fixing the MINI should be simple.

1 I think is was on the UK mini site that it was an option that you could have the speedo on top of the steering wheel in the UK as well, but i have never been able to confirm this by other means.

2 Any thing can be done it is just the getting to right people.

3 drop me a Pm and I will go thru what I know.

Na, you can't swap in a speedo thats from a car thats done over a certain amount of K's - its like a built in switch in the unit.

?

I must confess I have absolutely no technical knowledge on this problem.... However, surely on all mini's the Speedo needle is at the same place at the same speeds regardless if you had KPH or MPH on your dial.... so all you would need is a new sticky cover MPH template for your speedo?

or an I over simplifing the problem?
