Whalen Shift Knob

I know this have been discussed before but I promised Doug Whalen that I would post on MINI2 as I am SOOOOO impressed with the job that he has done.

I saw a few different Whalen Shift knobs on here but wanted to "design" my own.

I contacted Doug through his website (http://www.whalenshiftmachine.com/home.htm) and after a few e-mails flying about we came up with this design.

I can not stress enough how this small piece of kit have now changed my shifting and my whole driving experience. It feels like I am driving a whole different car! I also need to add that not only did my shifting improve during "motorway" ( ) driving but definitely with city driving as well. The knob is rather heavy and the additional weight allows you to shift more easily. It feels great in your hand and makes the shifting feel more solid.

Don't get me wrong I did like my MCS's leather upgrade knob but this is what MINI should have added to the MCS in the first place!

So go ahead and order yours today... you will not be sorry - especially with Doug's customization!

Here is some pics of before and after and a close-up of my "design".

Hope you like it!

It is a piece 'o cake to install. The hardest part is pulling off the stock knob -- make sure you don't bonk yourself in the forehead from pulling so hard.

The Whalen has a spring-loaded collar. Pull up on the collar, push the knob on and release to lock it in place. The added benefit is you can quickly pop the knob off when you don't want it sitting out in the summer sun.
