Retrofit Latest Factory Option Armrest??

Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to retrofit the latest factory option armrest?? I know there was a offical retrofit armrest which had two metal struts which connected in under the seat subframe, but I'd prefer the factory one which fixes just behind rear cupholder.

Having got the arm rest, I don't see why not...however I suspect that you will need a completly new centre console.

I will warn you though...mine rattles

If you need some detailed photos of how it attachs let me know.

Cheers... I'm not sure I'm keen on getting a new console just for an armrest tbh might have to redirect my modding instincts

If I'm honest, its nice for cruising, but as it doesn't rattle when its in the "up" position I have not been using it that much

I'll get some pics of how it attaches.

btw, my armrest came on my 05 MCS March build as a $200 factory option, and frankly, I'm less than pleased...it's not sturdy, actually sags somewhat, so my arm is not as high as I would like...besides being too low, my hand is just a schoche too far away from the steering wheel...but my passengers find it ok.

Anyone else less than totally satisfied?

I'm not keen on the sound of getting something that rattles tbh... there's enough already

I figured out what it is though, and when car goes in for airbag deactivation will get them to look at it.

In the pics there is a circular cap. One is nice and tight the other is loose. Not sure if its the loose one that rattles or the tight one squeeking

Cheers for the pics... looks like it just bolts down on top of the existing console and replaces the exitisting ring around the cupholder. ...might have a word with the parts department and see what they can come up with

£150 fitted from the dealers max... Can be fitted to July 04 cars onwards (or so others have been told) I guess that is due to the facelifted center console.

I can remember there being a good thread for pictures somewhere in this forum also.

Blake.

Just picked up the retro fit of this armrest from the dealer.
Great ! Let's install !
Hmm...
I think I also need a new centre handbrake console..
(I've got an march '05 S type)

Also, the kit came with two different sets of end-caps for what ???
Have the One, Cooper and S different types of centre consoles maybe ?

There is a big bracket that needs to be installed under the centre console. The metal legs of the armrest go through the console and are connected to this bracket.

Has anyone done this job? Do you really need a new centre console, even on new 05 cars ?
And how do you remove the centre console ? There is only one bolt in the cup holder.
It's probably kept down with clips and just needs a good pull, but I'd like to be sure before I break it.

ps
The instructions didn't give a clue here either, it only said the 'centre console' needs to be ordered seperately... Hmm..
I was hoping as I have a 05 S type I didn't need this.
