I took my US mkt. '03 Mini to the dealer with a skipping-CD issue.
They replaced the entire unit with an '05 "Radio Boost".
It plays MP3s and has a lot of other features that I can't figure out.
It has 3 radios bands FM/LW/MW and "News" and "Traffic".
What are LW and MW?
What is the "TP" on the display?
Anyone have a scan or pdf of the manual?
I'm wondering if it's supposed to be a UK market radio that I got
accidentally.
LW & MW are the "Long Wave" and "Medium Wave" AM radio bands.
The "TP" on the display stands for "Traffic Programme", this comes on if you have selected the traffic function when the station you are tuned into has a traffic announcement service as part of RDS (radio Data System) . If TP is flashing then the station you are listening to doesn't have the traffic announcement system or the signal is to weak for this to be activated.
If TP is lit up then if the station you are listening to or a local station has a traffic announcement the the traffic announcement will interrupt what ever you are listening to (even if you are listening to the CD).
This does sound like the version of the boost radio that we have in the UK, not sure whether you have stations on the same MW and LW wavebands in the US or the RDS system which is a European standard?
Here is a useful web link to a description of what RDS is:-
It does sound like you have the UK head unit. For MW (medium wave) assume that this corresponds to AM in US. The attached link should be useful. http://www.gbmini.net/downloads/boost.pdf
Isn't the spacing of radio stations on FM (and AM for that matter) different in the US? Not sure if it matters (my itrip has differently spaced channels depending on US or EU setting)
