Post Upgrading BMW Sat Nav Software to V25 - Instructions Included

I have now installed and tested the new V25 sat-nav software in my car. The nav system works faster now but the main benefit is that instead of choosing a City first, then road name, you can go straight to road if you want and find any road in the UK.

For example if I typed in Jason Street without specifying a town/city, it would now come up with

Jason Street, Edgware
Jason Street, Luton
Jason Street, Watford
etc..

Instructions for Upgrading BMW Sat Nav Software to V25

Follow these instructions - this is how I did it.

Step 1 - Downloading & Burning

1) Download the zip file http://www.robotelecom.co.uk/v25.zip
2) Download and install Clone CD (the demo version will do) - http://www.slysoft.com/en/
3) Unzip the downloaded zip file into a directory on your PC (somewhere on the desktop should be fine)
4) Run Clone CD - click File > Write From file > Browse for the BMW Navi V25.ccd file in the directory you unzipped to. Then wait for it to burn

Step 2 - Installing

1) Turn the key to position 2
2) Eject the map CD/DVD from the car and replace with the CD you just created
The sat nav unit is underneath the drivers seat (passenger in left-hand drive cars).
3) The nav system will reboot and the software should now install - this may take a few minutes. There will be loading instructions on the screen. You may have to press OK to start installing. When complete the unit will reboot again and spit the disk out.
4) Re-insert your map CD/DVD disk.
5) Run through the menus - go to the SET screen and check that the version at the top is now 4-1/50 for DVD Nav, 3-1/63 for CD Nav.

That should be it. Any problems/questions don't hesitate to ask.

Regards

Jason

oh dear... i'm uploading it to one of our servers now and will publish the link in a min.

it has the route magnet function on it. don't think there are any other changes but it does seem to work quicker.

I've changed the link as the old source wasn't working. Please try http://www.robotelecom.co.uk/v25.zip

I'll do my best. I've moved the instructions to the 1st post also. I always try and keep my nav updated to the current version.

Jason
I have downloaded the file unzipped to a folder gone into clonecd selected V25ccd and burnt
All went well
Went to car switched on, removed disc, inserted download, warning came up This will update your configuration will take up to 6 mins etc. The disc then ejected but on the screen was your system is already up to date.

Checked inthe set mode on nav and the version No is 3/1/63 Which I have already had for 12months

Check if you have the funcion to search for streets in the UK. Has the car been in for any service work where they might have upgraded the software without telling you. I know there were known faults on some of the previous versions which would have been flagged up if your car went in for a service etc...

I've just checked and 3/1/63 is the correct current version for the CD sat nav system. 3/2/63 is for monochrome sat nav. The 63 bit is the part that matters.
