Fitting new head unit

Hi peeps,

Just been out to try and install my CD player into my Cooper. Looked through the FAQ's and tried taking the side bars out, but they just wouldn't go, I'm not confident giving the dash a "medium to sharp tug" as I've only had the car a day and don't want to break it!

Any other ideas? Should I just go get someone to fit it? or get a multi-changer that fits the existing one?

its really is quite easy to get them out. Just remove all four screws in the side bars, remove all 4 screws in the centre console (between the seats) and move the said console back toward the rear seats when you have done this simply get hold of the uprights and pull them down and out. Just be careful to not scratch the dash with the top of the uprights. Are you using the fitting guide from newministuff.com. https://www.newministuff.com/new/ind...ion=13&diyid=6

Ah that looks a bit more simple, was using the removing interior parts FAQ on mini2.
Will give that a go tomorrow night.

Cheers.

If it is a new car they have changed the design,.
Remove the 4 screws from the side of the pillars then push them down then outwards, you can now get to the radio screws. No need to move the centre console any more

is that missing from the diy guide? or did i just miss it?

oh well, the guide is excellent anyway...cheers for putting it up in the first place.

i had one idea...it would be nice to place a couple of cable ties in the kit mike, its something i forgot and with the new radio loom + adaptor i had quite a lot of cable to lose and keep from rattling...just a little thought
