Using ipod + ice link + radio

Now I have a great Mini, a wonderful ipod and the ice link connector and ... it do not seem to make it work properly: I can listen to music from the ipod, however the order of songs is at random (although random is switched off) and after a couple of songs it sometimes just starts with the first one again. I don't seem to have any control over my ipod I probably just need a quick training on the usage ...
a) As a test I created on playlist BMW1 and one called Mini2 - what kind of naming should I use?
b) When accessing the ipod via the Boost radio how can I listen to one album completely and then the next one (assumption that playlist includes x different albums and not just a list of various songs)?
c) How can I start with listening to the first song on the songlist or how can I make sure that I really don't have random activated?
d) How can I switch to manual ipod usage? I tried it on "6" but my ipod does not react when I use the click wheel? From what I understood you can either access the ipod via the radio or manually when pressing the "6"?

In general: what are the basics I need to understand to use my ipod with the icelink via the radio?????
