It's very easy to do yourself, there is even a step-by-step guide on this site.
http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?f..._faq_head_unit

I've done it 3 times now and only takes about 20/30 mins max

Nice choice, I bought the exact same unit and fitted it myself just two days ago

It really is dead easy to fit yourself, provided you have the right fitting bits and tools. (Torx 20 and 40 screwdriver bits are a must).

I just used Mikey's intructions on newministuff.com. The only thing I'd add is, if you're doing this for the first time (as I was), be careful when levering out the mirror switch panel. You need to lever out the whole switch assembly and not just the top plastic panel.

I have not fixed the microphone in place yet but I think I'm going to put it next to the rev counter on the steering column. I didn't want to put it on the sun visor since I have a convertible In the mean time, the clip that came with the unit sits nicely on the wiper stalk, with the cable running behind the rev counter and behind the knee bolster.

BTW I think 10 minutes is a bit optimistic for a first time install, but I reckon the whole job took me under an hour.

Good luck

I'm afraid I only have the two spoke steering wheel without phone controls I have to push the multi-control on the head unit to answer a call.

I don't know if the 3-spoke MFSW adapter supports the phone controls - maybe check with Mikey - but it should theoretically be possible since the remote that was supplied with the head unit has a phone button.
