Mini Cooper S Convertible Roof leaks in winter?

Hi Everyone!

Well, this is my first post on the site, and I did have a look to see if this particular topic was covered elsewhere, however, I couldn't find it. Apologies if it has been covered already however.

I'm about to take the plunge and buy a new Mini Cooper S Convertible for March next year! Before I do, I was wondering about how the roof holds up during cold weather. By that I mean has anyone experienced condensation inside the roof during the winter? I have sat in other convertibles where I have seen this problem first hand; I am sure the Mini will be completely fine, I just want a bit of reassurance before parting with my hard earned cash!

Any help would be appreciated!

The roof has some faults BUT leaking is not one of them and I've not seen any evidence of condensation. Enjoy the spring sunshine, crisp mornings..........................and get the heated seats!

Thanks Rentagas!

I'm still deciding on the spec, but it is most likely to be in dark silver and possibly with the JCW kit!

I'm upgrading from a hard-top megane convertible, and I think the mini will be lots more fun!

I was absolutely convinced my Cooper S Convertible was leaking as the passenger floor was very wet, strangely enough, immediately after being returned from the dealer. However, on further investigations it turned out that the dealer had washed the car with one of the passenger windows slightly open. They have since apologised for this. The car is now dry and thanks to some pretty heavy rain there are no leaks.

However when you open the door after a heavy downpour you will always get a drop of water on the seat. A common problem on most soft tops.

Also the back window gets VERY dirty in bad weather. So much, that at times you can't really see out of it.

All in all it is a good car.

Yeah the roof holds up. I've taken it to a "Laser Wash" that uses high pressure spray water and even that doesn't get under the seal.

mateo.

Gotta say early in the year we were sat in a downpour and the roof was leaking. Took it to the dealer and they fixed it ASAP no questions asked, wish we could have as much luck with the roof wear problem????????????????

i can only agree with the posts above, never had any leaking at all with mine and it's been through some pretty heavy rain at times.

i would say go for it, it's a beautiful car and doing 2500 miles to Italy and back over the weekend without a glitch has only made me love it even more

The first roof didn't leak, but have finally encountered rain with roof number 2. Leaks at windshield header on driver's (left) side. I'll add this to the list...

I haven't had any leaks, even in high-pressure car washes. The rain will drip on the seat when you open the door, which is really annoying, but it won't leak when the windows and doors are closed up. I don't have a garage and I live in a rainy city, and everything has stayed dry so far (at 3000 miles). Go for it, you won't be disappointed.
