Wind Deflector?

I was wandering what everyone's views are on the wind deflector. Is it worth having and is it easy to install yourself?

What comes around goes around.

Get it and don't worry about the cost... You'll thank yourself later... Install is about 30 seconds with the top down and it can be left in place with the top up (assuming that you don't carry rear passengers.

I am wondering the same thing, because it seems way too expensive.

Without it you will get a very cold neck! The wind deflector stops all the wind coming back into the cabin!

I think mine was about £160... but worth every penny!

I am selling a wind deflector in the for sale section. An absolute must for a convertible.

The wind deflector is expensive, but it works well. The real problem is the perceived value for f what you get -- it has been described as "pantyhose stretched between clothes hangers". I can sympathize with anyone who hesitates at the price.

However, in function (if not in material construction), it has very good value. The deflector significantly reduces wind turbulence and noise, even at moderate speeds. It greatly increases comfort and range of conditions for top-down motoring. Without it, noise from wind turbulence alone can make it difficult to hear the stereo, use a cellphone, or have a conversation with a passenger.

Short answer -buy it

The wind deflector means you can drive fast, drive in the cold in normal indoor clothes (ie-5 C!) , drive in the rain without getting wet and be able to hear the stereo and mobile phone/headset

Mini convertible drivers drive their cars with the top down in all weathers- key factors in this are heated seats, a good heater AND the wind deflector.

Why bother buying a convertible if you scrimp and save on the one thing that will most enable you to enjoy top down motoring. Why on earth is it not standard?

Wind deflector saved my marriage when we travelled down to Spain in my series 3 ' vert, (Not exactly true!) Not a hair of my wifes head was blown. I' ve ordered one to come with my new MINI 'vert.

Do you have to buy any preparations for this when you buy the car or can you just buy it as an accessory after and just put it in?

Thankyou

You can buy it anytime. No prep needed. The mounting holes are in the car weather you want them or not.

If they were cheaper, I'd buy a deflector, but to be honest, it's a lot of money to address what is only a teeny bit of a draught at my left shoulder, plus I have a back seat passenger on a relativey regular basis.

£160 will buy you a good collection of stylish hats to keep your hair in check, and will also mean you don't get caught out burning your heed on a sunny day.

I heard that there was a dealer somewhere in the US that would sell it at a discount and then ship it. Anyone know the source?

Look guys how much have you payed for your convertables, lets be rational here another 150 quidish and it makes all the difference, trust me.

We bought ours as part of the full purchase price on the MCSC and dont even notice it in the finance.

Bottom line is it works and is well worth every penny!!

Robert!!! Its me
You want to contact Classic MINI of Ohio at http://www.driveclassicmini.com/ and say you are a member of NAM. I got a 20% discount - bought the parcel shelf at the same time. Together, plus shipping, they cost less than the deflector retail.
