Question opening convertible roof with buton on key

Hi Everyone,

I hope that maybe someone can help me. I have had an MCSC for about a year now. I have read the owners manual that states to lower the roof on the convertible, press the unlock button 4 times ( I usually hold the 4th time). This causes the sunroof to retract and windows to go down, but it never puts the top completely down. Is there something that I'm doing wrong? I would love to know. Thanks

Hi there,

You have to keep the button depressed until the sunroof and windows go fully down/open then release the key button and depress it again. After a few seconds the roof will start going down.

Hope this helps.

Joe

Neil,

I believe that the dealers are now deactivating the comfort opening feature on convertibles in the UK as they seem to think that we're stupid enough to sit on our keys or something like that and accidentally open the roof.

If you go to your dealer they will be able to activate this for you at no cost.

Just bought a new one myself and specifically requested that this function be activated on pickup of the car.

Can open my car from my office. .

I asked my dealer for the comfort opening feature to be activated on my MCS - it's not a convertable but I wanted to open the windows whilst approaching and was told that it would cost £50 as it should have been requested before delivery! I argued that I'd never been told about this feature when ordering but it didn't do me any good

On the 2 occasions that I have requested that they activate this I have never been charged - I have friends that have also had this feature activated on there MCS's after delivery.

If they don't tell you about it when ordering they haven't really got an argument!!!

Give 'em hell! . Or alternatively just nip to another dealer to get it done - ring first or something.

Joe

Was going to give 'em hell but had more pressing things on my mind at the time (son going to hospital for an op.) Now that we've gone back to our usual British weather it doesn't seem as important (I found out about it back in July during the heat wave) Now if I had a convertable I would be far more peeved. Must look so cool to have the entire roof go down as your approaching There is someone at work who has a MCC but she wasn't told either That was a different dealer too!

Well hope your son is ok anyway - can understand how that might take priority! It is rather cool with the roof opening thing, thing is with my first convert the dealer took the comfort opening thing off without telling me so in that instance I just looked like a complete pratt stood next to my car messing about with the remote! .

I had comfort opening activated when I went in for an oil service. They didn't charge me for doing it.
