We pick up our new Cooper S Sidewalk in a few days - really looking forward to it. Saw one in local dealer but got a derisory part-ex price so phoned every dealer in the north of England till one finally said he could get one within 10 days and gave me a decent part-ex quote. It's Sparking Silver with heated seats and a wind deflector and even if i was doing a factory order I think the only extra on top of that would have been auto dimming mirror so very pleased with what we getting.
So me and Mrs Up North are looking forward to seeing you all in the Southport area.
Quick query - the mini website is a bit ambiguous on Ipod integration - the "Ipod Your Mini" section gives the impression that the connection is already there and you just plug Ipod in. But the interface is also mentioned in the accessories section. I'm guessing it is, in fact, an additional cost?
Make sure you post some pictures when you get the car
My dealer charged me around £350 for the iPod connector when I got my MINI, but I've since learnt there are better systems for less money. Have a look in the Interior and Ice Forum for some other options, apparently Mikeythemini does a very good job and I think I'll be going to him next time
We haven't got the car yet problems sorting out the number plate - anyway, I'm sure I've seen a link on here to a cover you can get to go over the hood to protect it. Anyone see it or got one?
Thanks in advance
Mrs Up_North
In terms of iPods, there's an aux input that is standard (in the Sidewalk at least) that you can plug into, but the proper Mini Ipod thing will let you control the iPod through the radio/steering wheel buttons.
Hope you get some sun when you pick yours up. We've had ours for about 5 weeks and seem to spend the whole time dodging the downpours at the moment. Apparently it is summer, though, even up here in the North.
Yes we picked it up a couple of weeks ago and managed to go topless about 3 times thanks to this weather. It's been on a couple of long journeys from Southport to Reading, and we even managed to get all of the dog's paraphanalia in it when we went to collect her. Had a laugh trying to work out how to fold up the wind deflector to get it back into it's bag....easy when you know how :-)) that makes such a difference.
I have just got a wind deflector - second hand rather than new. The bag seems massive, and has a couple of pockets in it. Are they for anything special? And it's got a massive seat-belt for a handle - like a shoulder strap I guess, just I case I feel the need to take the deflector for a walk!
