Do all convertibles have a gap in the trim?

You know the silver trim that goes around the back of the car and has the brake light on it? Well do you all have a gap on both sides where that trim meets the next one (approx above the petrol cap and same on other side)

Yes this gap is normal as this is where the hing is for the easy access when you lift the back of the roof to get into the boot
