Buying a new Convertible

Hello peoples!!

Having been without my ickle MINI One Convertible now for a few years while I've been working in the US, it's time to get back behind the wheel of my favourite little car

Unfortunately I had to sell mine to fund my accommodation Stateside, so I get to go MINI shopping all over again

Now, I realise the new model is not far away, but I really want one now (impatient girl aren't I?)

So, I'd like to spec myself a new One/Cooper, but my dealer wants me to go for a Sidewalk - which would you go for?

Thanks all

Heather x

Ohh MINI Shopping!! Im good at that

The Sidewalk is a really nice car, infact so nice I did consider a Black S Sidewalk before I ordered the Dooper But I couldnt bring enough courage to do it!! You can still spec other options on top if you wish, but it make the cost goup a fair bit

If you want to start from scratch spec your own and ignore the dealer

Good luck MINI shopping

Thanks supa!!

I went into the dealers this morning, a ONE sidewalk with sports suspension, chrome exterior, visibility pk, heat seats, xenons and HK sound comes out at £18,400

He thinks I'm mad to spend that on a ONE, but i love it, and can have it for middle of March!!

It does work out cheaper than putting those options on a normal ONE, I effectively get leather and heating seats for FREE - plus I lurrrve the wheels

I just need to convince myself that I like the dale winton seats

Hi Heather and welcome back !

When I was changing my One Convertible I did consider a Sidewalk but I really wanted the Recaro seats and you can't spec them on a Sidewalk so I ended up getting a used Cooper S Works instead

What colour's the Sidewalk by the way?

Oh how lucky a MINI shopper.
A cabrio girl at that
I must say Heather I would be looking at the sidewalk now too, if it has everything you want on it then why not go for the special one.
How long have you been without a MINI?

Thanks folks!!

Nicky - it would be Astro Black It suits the sidewalk wheels well - just not sure on that leather yet!

Wizgleeson - I've been without a MINI now for about 2.5 years. I got a contract working over the US, and the MINI had to go unfortunately

I'll have to pop into the dealer this afternoon and have another little look see

have to admit, I'm not a huge Sidewalk fan so I'd spec from scratch and get exactly what you want

Definetly get the sidewalk, its GORGEOUS, plus as it wont be available for a long amout of time, youll then have a very special and fabulous MINI, thats exactly how you want it.

Plus i wasnt to sure about the seats to start with, but i adore them now,and i may be mistaken here but from march cant you get them in either brown or black

I am ALWAYS happy and smiley

I too went through the shall I, shall I not sidewalk debate.

I have to say I am more than glad I sidewalk'ed

I love it. I am not a huge fan of astro black, so mine is PW with the malt interior and it looks FAB!

The cost was one thing, I got everything I wanted and more on the sidewalk for less than speccing it myself. I also love the wheels and the look amazing even after a few days hard driving, no major brake dust issues!

Not sure about an all black mini, with ( I aasume a black roof) and black interior. The Cab is pretty dark inside, and I doubt that in the UK you'll have the roof down everyday.

The malt brown really does grow on you and the leather is so soft and comfy!

I wanted recaros intially but with the amount of driving I do, I don't think they would have been suitable anyhow. I have spoken to a few people that have them and for long distances they wouldn't recommend.

TBH I am not a fan of special editions, it sort of takes away from the individuality of the MINI IMO, but I have some funky stripes on mine and it certainly stands out!

Anyhow, I love the Sidewalk if you hadn't have guessed and I really enjoy driving. I have only had good comments about the seats too, but I know that they are not to everyones taste!

Here are some pictures of a recent MINI adventure down the Great Ocean Road.

hehe I dunno about the sidewalk... its still growin on me... its just the seats in that browny colour altho I must admit it looks better with the white than the other colours available for the sidewalk! I think if I were to get it I'd prob go for the black interior

If the world didn't suck we'd all fall off!
