Cooper Convertible or Cooper S Convertible

Hi guys,

Abit of a quandry!
I wanted to purchase the sidewalk (love the old tan leather colour inside), and testdrove it in the cooper convertible and liked it, but saw the Cooper S (not a sidwalk) in the showroom and fell in love.

I can either buy a brand new cooper sidewalk, or the dealer for the same price has found me an astro black late 2007 convertible with under 2000 miles on it in the Cooper S?

Insurance and Petrol is not really an option as I am 38 this year, and have a fuel card, so please
what would you do? and what should I do

Sold my beetle cabriolet today, so I need to make up my mind quickly!

I would love to, but i set my budget at 20k and there are no ex demo sidewalks in the Cooper S hence the quandry !

My head is saying go with the S, as its obviously a good deal, its just that sidewalk interior, it really got to me!!!!

Thanks for your replys, really appreciate it

If you are looking to order a new "personalised" sidewalk you won't get the Tan Interior anyhow as it has been discontinued.

Go the S, but as I have a sidewalk S i have the best of both worlds!

^ see relllik, you have the best of both worlds! I went with the Cooper S in black with black leather int, and paid the deposit yesterday, I adored the interior of the sidewalk on the Cooper they had available, but the S won hands down on the test drive

Whichever way you go be quick! They have cancelled the Malt Brown Leather on all sidewalks and have replaced it with a black leather!

^^^ yep, I read that, I just cant believe it, the Malt leather looked incredible , terrible decision to cancel the colour imo!!!
Although my dealer did find me over 4 sidewalks that were sitting unregistered, there are a fair few around, just not the spec that I wanted!

roll on next week now, I am feeling very excited and "think" I made the right choice

For how long is the R52 convertible going to be available? I.e. when is the R56 -based version going to take over?

^ ooh topbox, that was the one I was going to go for too, then I found the S in black, but I love the look of the sparkling silver, although its an odd name to give a gorgeous golden coloured car
many congrats

I collect my 55 reg MCSC in pepper white with black drop top on Saturday! It looked super when I test drove it but then I wasn't looking for signs of roof wear - not knowing of existing problems. Having read all the comments tonight (hundreds of them) on the problems with the convertible roofs; I am seriously worried I may be buying a white elephant. Given I am trading my much loved current cooper and taking out a largish loan I cannot afford to make a mistake here. I am wondering if i should have gone for a tin top Cooper S rather than a convertible.
Any thoughts from anyone?
