Soaking wet passenger side carpet - RESOLVED

I was washing the minis this weekend and when I was lifting out the mats on my mums convertible, i could hardly pull it out as it was solidly frozen to the carpet.

I eventually got it out and the floor was rock solid with ice and when it de-thawed it was absolutley soaking.

The car smells damp inside too.

I cannot find anywhere there could be water coming in from. It is not a leak from open windows or roof as the main bulk of the water is right under the glove box.

It is booked in for a service soon, so hopefully they will sort it then, but the car is now out of warranty and I was wondering if anyone has heard of this problem before?

EDIT :
The leak was caused by a replacement windcreen which was fitted badly through the insurance company.

Mini charged £500 to replace!

I dont think anyone has gone in the passenger side since i last washed the car two weeks ago.

There seems to be about half a bucket load soaked into one patch.

Funny thing was, when I turned the car on to move it yesterday, I did hear some very strange gurgling which I never hear in my mini.

I have had a search on the forums but just cant seem to find anything like this.

She has had a leaky roof before last year, but that caused a completely different area to get wet and wasn't half as wet as this.

I had the same problem. It was faulty door seals which were replaced under warranty as was the carpet. Original thought my passenger had wet himself due to my spirited driving on the Madeira roads, but it was actually the door seal leaking during one of our tropical storms. Now fixed and perfect.
Don't know about the passenger though! :-)

That's awful! Are you going to complain to your insurance company? It should be them paying to rectify the damage, not you

I really hope my parents do complain to the insurance company and get something for the hassle they have caused.

But I doubt they will.

Silly really, because people like this letting the companies get away with fitting windscreens badly means that more and more will be fitted badly and could even end up being dangerous.
