Which one??? I'm now mini less and devastated! Tho looking for a new one is fun, the question I've got for you guys is am I better with a newer car or lower milage. Mine was both oldish and high milage so not sure which was the main reason for the little problems I was starting to get. Choice 1 -copper 2005 reg convertible cat d repaired 35k miles £3795 - bright pink Choice 2 - copper 2004 reg convertible 23k again cat d repaired £4500 - pale pink I'm incredibly girly so love the colour of both, copper s is out purely due to insurance. I'm hoping this car will last me around 4-5yrs until I finish my degree which does involve quite a bit of commuting to placements so tempted by the lower milage example even if I prefer the 05 plate to look at

Hi, Personally I would go for an S. I was in the same situation myself, thinkng whether to go for a Cooper or the S and i'm so glad I didn't choose the cooper! Now at 21 my insurance is £785 fully comp! It all depends and what your current car is and how you like to drive.. and how far you drive daily, fuel economy etc. I would not touch any of your choices if i'm being totally honest as they are Cat D, there will always be a slight doubt in the car when driving it. Autotrader is the best site for lower priced cars depending on your budget! Have a look at this one, fairly low on the milage: 2004 MINI Cooper 1.6 Cooper 2dr Convertible Rhys Rhys1501 Last edited by rhys1501; Feb 8th, 2012 at 04:17 PM.

Agreed - especially at upwards of £4k. It doesn't take much to write off a MINI as repairs are expensive, especially on first gen models, but for that sort of money there's no need to be looking exclusively at written-off examples. If you're planning on keeping the car for 5 years, why not broaden your horizons by looking at different colours, finding something tidy and within budget, the getting it vinyl wrapped? Can be done for under a grand now, and when it comes time to sell the car, you have the option of removing it which will potentially (very likely if we're honest) help with resale. Have a look on PistonHeads Classifieds - mostly enthusiast-owned cars, plenty of choice, and usually pretty fairly priced.

Over a month and im still after a new car (Insurance have taken forever to pay out grrr) my budget is upto 5k which doesnt seem like a lot for a convertible as id ideally like under 60k miles. Ive took your advice and started looking at other colours but no such look Whatttt who your insurance with, im 22 and even last year with full no claims was looking at 1k+ for insurance. My old car was a mini copper convertible and was paying 900 on that with diamond, unfortuanlly im a medical student which does bump it up a bit aswell like. Sighs anyone reading this take it as a note get a tracker fitted and hide the spare key if I had i could have simply gone and got my baby back but now she gone forever along with my private plare
