Mrs and I Buying 2006 Conv, great little car!!! Looking at the forum it seems the Conv wasn't updated until later on whilst hatch was done in 2006, however, I have noticed some 2006 models having the newer steering wheel and dash board centre controls whilst outs has same set up as my 2004 04 model I had before. Why is this and anything to worry about? Car was reg in July 2006

Car has fminish and in general good condition couple of bits which dealer is doing (small paint laquare defect on tailgate etc) the roof works fine but any tell tail signs such as noise/sound I should listen out for as a sign of failure be it bars etc. it's under warranty so keen to get any issues covered.

Hi, I believe all the convertibles are the later models. The launch of the convertible was at the similar time to the facelift of the hatch (late 2004,04's & Definately 54plates onwards). I'm also led to believe the early convertibles were prone to roof cables snapping which was later upgraded. I've owned an 04 model which had had the roof fixed under warranty. I'm onto my 2nd convertible now and love them!!

So as a 2006 would the conv arm problem been rectified by then or should I look out for a recall etc?

The newer steering wheel was the Multi Function steering wheel which was an option here I do believe - 3 spoke? Might of been different in the UK tho? I owned a 2005 Cooper Convertible had it for 2 years without any problems with my roof... the only thing I had to replace on it was the battery! Mine had the chrono pack which had the 2 gauges above the steering wheel, looked really nice with the chrome interior. I now have a 2009 MCS Convertible, have had it for 2 years in May.
