Convertible soft top retraction issue

Hi, can anyone help me please.
I purchased my 2004 Mini one last summer, and just loved getting the top down
Now that we are starting to see some sunshine again, I thought I'd let some wind in my hair, but unfortunately it will now only retract to position one! When I press the button again to get it to fully retract, the light flashes.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be the cause? I'd like to at least elimiate any simple issues before I get someone to look at it!

Appreciate any advice.

Thanks in advance
Laura

Have you checked your boot to make sure that the parcel shelf is not in the "Up" position. I know if I have had a lot of stuff crammed into my boot it dislodges the parcel shelf and you have to re seat it and the roof then opens.

Hi
As above but, where the shelf fits or lowers onto there is a micro switch so that when the shelf is in the correct position it closes the switch, it's on the left just below the shelf, if you lift the shelf slightly you will hear it clicking then do the obvious.

Thanks both of you, I will give it a try tomorrow. It did sort itself out but has now gone again....least that gives me some reassurance it;s nothing major.....I did recently have a boot full of stuff following a house move, so I have a good feeling that you are right.
Really appreciated
