OMG! Followed a Convertible today!!

I know that there have been several sightings of convertibles over the last few weeks, but all seem to be in the area of 'Plant Oxford' or london.

So imagine my surprise when i drove from Midhurst (West sussex) to Chichester following a Convertible this morning. I have to admit that I was following it for a good 5 minutes before it dawned on me that it was not a hard top. I managed to get my passenger to take a photo from my camera phone, but can't do anything to get it to email or my computer so there it will have to stay for the time being (have MMS'd it to my wife's phone as she has a convertible on order). The driver turned off briskly at a village before Chichester so I hope I didn't spook him.

The car was a silver 04 cooper with a mini2.com sticker. Any ideas who this could have been? Presumably they are all being driven by the management from mini?

Nothing but after after and more s!

Gotta be Goonery.

We lost him somewhere between Oxford and Brighton last Saturday while on the Round GB run. I didn't realise that he was still trying to find us. When I spoke to him at Blackwater, the sat-nav seemed to be working OK.

Check post #59 of this thread for confirmation:

at MJ, I clocked you with the camera, and was looking for a convenient stopping place so I could pull over, but that bit of road was not giving much opportunity. As I was on my way to Goodwood, and still looking fir Whacky Racers , the Sat Nav determined that I take a left where I did. Keep up next time, you were puddling along a bit, I had to slow down to keep you in tow

Excellent!!

Glad you're not cross at having the papparazzi following you! Believe me camera phones have a LONG way to go. We couldn't get close enough to start with, then you met that dustbin lorry! We very nearly followed you to see if you were going to the pub (about the only thing there is where you turned off). A drink and lunch would have been a small price to pay for a nosey at the car!! Instead, we decided that you were going up to goodwood the scenic route ( ) and shot up the trundle (massive hill next to racecourse) as fast as MJ (the car!) would get us there. Also, It was the first time my passenger had been in a car as quick as the S, and by the time we got up to the trundle, he was looking a distinctly funny shade of purple!! Anyway, lost you.

Maybe see you again sometime? The roads around Midhurst, Petworth, and Chichester are MJ's stomping ground. Couldn't wish to live in a more 'driveable' county ! I'm trying to organise my diary so i can go on the south-downs run in July.

The Convertible looks SO good, much better in the flesh then on any pictures!

Glad you enjoyed the peek, I would have happily stopped for a few minutes , but as the Sat Nav said left, I had to follow it. SouthDowns are nice roads indeed, I've got relatives in the area so get down quite a bit, then work commitments as well, so I'm getting to know the place quite well.

Had a few snappers in Chichester on the way home too

MJ - try sending the photo to a mobile you know hasn't got the capability to view photos (ie. an old one!). Normally that'll mean they'll get a text message telling them to go to a website where they enter a password (given to them in the text) in order to get the photo.

You might have tried this already, but I thought i'd make sure u knew about it.

Great photos!! The first one is quite similar, except the top's up (it was a beautiful sunny day!), and there is a West Sussex County Council Dustbin lorry clearly visible in front - Not what you would want really on a photo with such a high class car!!!

Good idea about the sending message to non photo mobile. I'll give it a go.

Goonery, if you're ever in the area, give me a shout! Also, I've had a search but am trying to work out how you've managed to get the car this early !!
