Cooper S Convertible

I have been offered a 1st week in September build date for a Cooper S Convertible.

Is that ok or should I look around.

That's pretty amazing, if you just got that - Mine's due late OCt, and I reserved it quite a while back.

Thanks for that Although that is the build date wouldn't get the car till early Oct maybe.

Then the weather will have started to change.

Can not make my mind up as I would not be selling my Cooper S. WOuld need to trade the Lexus RX300.

Where in Scotland are you? I'm sure last time I checked my dealer he only had 1 S ordered (mine ). That could mean that he has some August delivery available. Plus it means you would get the second choice at any prelaunch cars the may get.

PM me if you want more info.

Cheers, Peter

I'm totally new to all this, so hoping someone can help! When you say you've been given a build date does that mean you've also specced up the car and everything? Am attempting to get more information from my dealer and not getting that far yet - all I've been told is the cooper s will be out at the end of Sept. Will be going down there tomorrow and have been given a options list jobbie thing from another poster for the one & cooper convertible but aside from that I haven't a clue what I'm doing! Thank you!

Leila, I think your dealer is taking the P. The way it has ben explained to me is that the first build slots are at the beginning of July (Cooper S). This means that these cars will be on the road late july/early august. If you have an early build slot then the dealer should be asking you to specify the car asap as their online ordering system is now accepting Cooper S Convertible orders as of last week.
I think most dealers also now know what there allocation will be, my dealer is approx 1 per month til year end (2 in august), so, if they have a waiting list, they should know when your car is likely to be built.

As far as options are concerned, again my dealer has had B&W price lists for a couple of weeks, if you don't get any joy from your local dealer, then perhaps I can scan the important pages and mail them to you.

Good luck, Peter

Thanks Peter, the dealer hasn't returned any of my calls so I'm going down there this afternoon. Another forum member has sent me the optional equipment list for the Open & Cooper, I'm just assuming that the S won't be too different from these but I guess I could be wrong....

hi i have been given a build date for mini cooper s after speccing it which is 13th of August by the dealers computer although they have written 15th august on my order card which is placed on their wall and number 4 in list. They need a couple of days to pre inspect car and valet it when it arrives. If
you go into any dealership before you order a cooper/cooper s they can tell u what build date it will be before even speccing it. I cose to order with wiilliams in liverpool has they gave me number 4 in thier list better than my local dealer in yorkshire who said they couldent get me an s convertible till next year so my homework paid off and all i did was ask their allocations for the year for cooper s and when i would likely to get it if i placed deposit with them.

MINI Cooper S in HYPER BLUE undefined Chilli Pack, Heated mirrors/washer jets, Interior trim in body colour, Crome line interior, Front seat heating, Sat Nav, Single CD player, Radio Boost, Wind deflector, TLC, Tyre Insurance

With all these differing stories, what's going on at the dealers? There seems to be some variations from " It's not been confirmed" to "pick it up September, I'm No 7 at Williams Manchester, I have to admit I didn't shop about, I've specced it but now I'm thinking could I get one earlier? What's the earliest definite delivery date anyone has got?

the earliest build date for a cooper s convertible is mid july would u bvelieve it or not but you would have to be 1 or 2 on the dealers list to get it has earlier has that most dealers will have 2 cooper s convertibles allocated for july, 2 for august and then 2 in sept and maybe a few more depending on dealership size williams manchester is the biggest dealership in the uk so their allocation will be slightly higher. I t is a matter of knocking on doors all the time and pestering dealers but being nice to them at the same time, it is like going for a job interview and thats why i managed to get an early build slot. some customers will drop out and therefore dealers can move u up on their list if u prefer an early carhope this helps everyone.

Thanks for that, I think the guy said he had either 9 or 14 for the year, initially he said he would try to get it this year but after I specced it he said Dec, I've gone for Chilli pack multi function S/W, heated mirrors / jets, chrome line interior, top tint w/screen, wind deflector, chrono pack, single cd with boost and a wind deflector it's cool blue with blue roof, so no sat nav. I am dreading to think what sports suspension plus will be like, I use a cooper sometimes and that's a bit firm, i think i'll give him a call tmrw and tell him what my new mini community is saying.
