England Spare wheel?

Please can someone tell me if it is possible to use the spare wheel if i have 17"wheels? My dealer said its not poss but im not so sure. How about bigger tyre thickness/tread to make up the difference. I want to be able to change to normal tyres. THANKS.

spare wheel

apparently yes (the overall wheel diameter does not change)
but the MCS doesn't have space to caarry a spare on the car because of the resiting of the battery into the boot (i was told)

spare

Cooper (and one) has space for spare. Overall diameter of wheel+tyre is the same whether 15" or 17" so spare fits all wheels. Limitation of speed is due to width of tyre. The 17" tyre may well be run flat so unless you live/travel miles from anywhere you may never change the spare. I believe the spare is underneath the car so factor in a locking system to prevent theft. I had ordered a spare when i ordered a cooper as you say to give the option to change to normal tyres-but changed to an S
