More videos of the roof in action - including the "hands free" method...

Open via the remote, first touch opens the sunroof and windows, second opens the rest. Windows do NOT close by this method, which they would do via the button in the car, if held for long enough:

Closing with the key in the door:

Opening again, panning around the car, again via the remote:

Closing up, shot inside the car, also rear view and mirror view, pan of dash:

All of the above:

Excellent footage Paul, top post.

Do you have to press the remote twice, or for example, can you do "one long" touch to get it to completely open. And yes I am worried about wearing out my little pinkie!

It's a two press jobbie, same as with the inside button. Once for the sunroof, once for the rest. Believe me, I've stood there looking like a fool waiting for it to open fully enough to know that for sure!

That's the thought that ran through my mind, flash toy, but a bit slow to actually get going = look like a fool.

We will all have to perfect the knack of misidirection, like magicians, and come up with some woderfull observations to distract people whilst they are waiting.

I wonder how long before Cabrio drivers get acused of saluting like the Nazi's, when actually they are trying to close the roof from the inside!

It was like that, this is/was a BMW press fleet car, so I've no idea if they're like that or you'll have to ask your dealer to switch it on.

Cars come preprogrammed as above with instructions in the handbook. Someone on this forun claimed that they could close the roof with the key fob -has anyone else replicated this? This is explicitly refuted in the handbook.

The ultimate would be to open the roof as you stroll across Sainsbury's car park but the range is not good enough for this. Instead you have to stand and wait for the process to finish before getting into the car.

Have you tried pointing the key against your chin to increase the range? NO...i'm not crazy!! I get improved range with my MCS remote, just like you can do with an alarm remote, etc.

A dirty mind is a terrible thing to waste!

I've heard this increases the range but I wanted to look COOL whilst traversing Sainsbury's car park.

rentagas, when parking at Sainsburys find a bay that will allow you to walk towards the front of your car when leaving the supermarket by doing this you will get a bit more distance to open the roof with the remote control.

Give it a go as you'll be that cool you'll be frozen.
