How do I decode the VIN on a MINI?

I have looked on the FAQ for decoding Vin nos. My convertible has a vin no RD32 does anyone know what this translates to?

It relates to the model....

I believe RE32 is the Cooper S.... although if you have a Cooper S and yours says RD32 I could be wrong !!!!

The FAQ needs to be updated for the convertible, but I need people who have taken delivery of their convertibles to provide the model they have and the vehicle code portion of their VIN.

Thumbs up cooper_s_dreamer

The FAQ on VIN decoding has now been updated for Convertible models.

The last seven digits are the important ones. Any dealer can tell you all about your car with those.
I could, for instance, tell someone in America the exact spec of his car if I had the last seven digits of his chassis number.

That's good, but not as good as what I can do at work. A dealer can tell you the complete spec of a vehicle from the last seven. There's no access to that from outside of the dealer network though.

I often look at my spec at work - just to remind myself I have 3 pages of spec. Ask Minty about that. His one page of spec to my three annoys him, and he also thinks it's sad I can remember the last seven digits of my chassis number off by heart.

BMW are obviously paying you too much to have to time to read through 3 pages and even, to be able to afford three pages of stuff Getting lots of ashtrays are we?!

Your MINI is a 08/2004 build ...

As the VIN Decoder site reads:
Quote:
The Data is compatible with BMW ETK CD-ROM as of 06/2004.

Hm...

Just received from my dealer VIN of my "to-be-born" MINI.

WMWMG31020TL30733

This "zero" confuses me... It should be "eight" for car assembled in November of this year, right?

Sorry for posting to R50-53. It was most relevant topic
