My alarm kept going off in the wind last night and it was not that windy. Back to dealers again.

Wondered, if anyone had any updates on this?

I too have been having problems, again only when the hood is up and the interior sensors are activated. But, in my case it has not happened specifically when it is raining nor during the day (done it now). Only goes off when I'm sound asleep pumping ZZZZZ's

I believe that the sensors are microwave based and so far I have found 4. One behind each of the door cards and one in the LH & RH rear panels. Although BMW say that it is not adjustable it must be in some basic sense as it obviously has different coverage patterns for hood up or down.

Next time I'm behind the panels I'll take a closer look but I did open the case and found a circuit board with a big shielding can around it.

Spoke to BMW/Mini and they confirmed the issue also affects the Z4.
They are working on a fix but have been for a while.
Their advice in the meantime (which is wholly unaccepable) is go out in the pouring rain and turn off the internal sensors.

HI ALL, my alarm decided to go off in slight drizzle, medium rain and no rain especially at night but when i;m armed and ready during torrential rain doesn't go off. When i took it back to the dealers they checked and their reply was yes the alarm is faulty and i have to bring it back within a months time as they were ordering a part. They also said my boot wasn;t aligned properly??? so whether this affects the alarm no idea as collected car and had to rush back off. will update you in months time at the mo I'm just deactivating the alarm.

Alarm still going off but is it me? Not during the day only when I'm a sleep!! was asleep. Does not seem to weather related either. Anyway took another look at one of the sensors and I can't see much to adjust, twiddle....

i got mine back from the dealers this morning, to be told that the car is going to need new sensors, which have to be ordered from germany, so it will have to go back for a 5th time in a few weeks. They also are ordering a new rubber strip for the base of the roof which melted in the last bit of hot weather we had a few weeks ago, going over all the roof.

TOP OFF AT LAST. (Everybody be cool, you, be cool.)

Kind of off topic but I was wondering where the motion sensor is for the alarm in the convertibles. I know in the tin top it's some where in the roof. Anyone done their own install?

RIP Boo

I get my car back Monday... but I can't remember whether he said they'd have the sensors to fit, or whether I'd have to bring the car back another time. Given that they're keeping hold of it for so long (since Friday) I can only assume they've actually done it. I hope so anyway, the alarm going off all the time is a right biatch!

Angry alarm

Given my well documented problems with my MOC "Is my MOC a heap of junk?", would the alarm problems be satisfactory cause to reject the car?

My sensors were replaced with the new ones, alarm hasn't gone off since. Fingers crossed I've seen (and heard) the last of that.
