Question to all you convertible owners... Hi everyone, looking at swapping my current cooper s to a cooper s convertable..... is the rear leg room the same (i'm thinking that the roof may take up some additional room..) ?? i've seen some with a central speedo and the rev counter mounted above the steering wheel, and some with two clocs above the wheel and guages in the central clock - what is this called ??? and how much extra does it cost ?? any idea what they are fetching above list ?? My pal bought a cooper convertable ('er in doors says we've got to have an s !!), with a view of "turning it for a few quid", but got bugger all genuine interest, and in the end the supplying dealer put him in touch with a punter who paid list price for it ?? cheers |

| Forget trying to make a bundle on the MINI Convertible! It's a car to be enjoyed - by you (and 'er indoors!). There are enough pros out there holding cars they reserved ages ago - you can see the adverts all over the place, and I don't think there's much to be made above list. But you might strike lucky.... Not here much any more |

| i think it all depends on how far back u and ur passenger have your seats really (my brother is well over 6ft and has his seat so far back that it would be physically impossible to get someone in behind him!) best thing is to drag the family down to ur local dealers and get them all to sit in a convertible.... you may look like complete n utter fools but atleast you would know! i don't think it's a practical car for every day use (for an older family... ie kids with long legs!) but for shorter journeys i think u would all be fine... plus the kids will love the car so much they will say they are fine in the back even if the blood supply to their legs is being cut off and they get out of the car all numb n in pain due to being squeezed in!!... only kidding... not that bad (honest!!) |

Hi Dalboyne, i think you have misunderstood... i'm not trying to make on it - i'm just trying to get my mits on one, but am reluctant to pay more than a few hundred quid over list...... i wanted to ferret out someone who'd forked out for one, cant sell it and wants out and i can give them their money back...... failing that, and bearing in mind winter is round the corner, would be to order a new one for the spring........ i assume the waiting list is about 4 months ??? |

| My two daughters (12 & 14) seemed fine in the back on a recent trip down to near Bordeaux. They complained a bit about numbness on the 9 hour trip back to Paris, but otherwise just balanced my laptop in the middle and watched DVDs... being quite dark in the back makes for good cinema viewing! MCC Astro Black, collected 21 July , all is well (alarm has not false alarmed since 15 December 2004!) |

| If you order now, about 12 to 16 weeks delivery dependent on spec, but you might get lucky if you are not too fussy about spec, as some customers order, and then cancel after getting bored with waiting. |

| Translation for Our American Cousins... It's simple! Don't you lot over that side of the pond understand the Queen's English? I always suspected that letting you lot have your independence was a big mistake.... Anyway, here goes: "A close and entrepreneurial acquaintance of mine invested in a Cooper Cabrio in the hope of reselling it immediately and benefiting from a quick profit. However, for some inexplicable reason he was unable to attract a buyer willing to pay above the list price. Eventually, his MINI dealer in an act of surprising altruism for one in the auto trade, was able to introduce him to a prospective purchaser who was ready, willing and able to acquire the aforementioned vehicle for the published list price. (As an aside to this anecdote, I feel obliged to add that my beloved spouse is of the opinion that nothing less than the Cooper S will do for our esteemed household) Not here much any more |

| Oh... But that seems as American as they come, so why didn't I understand in the first place? People here think nothing of buying a dollar bill for .80c and trying to sell it for $1.20. But, of course, if it weren't for our independence, we might not be able to take the Chevy to the levee to see if the levee was dry, because no one ever ate English Pie, let alone wrote a song about it. And if it weren't for our independence, there would only be one set of words to the song G-d Save the King (or whatever you call it) Or, remember that if it weren't for our independence, we'd still be speaking English, while you might be speaking German... (Uh oh, scratch that. That is way too nasty, and I withdraw it and apologise profusely. Ugly American that I am...) And the final one, if it weren't for our independence I wouldn't be so ![]() ![]() ![]() ed at MINI USA for programing out the English lady from my Nav System and putting in Brooklyn Betty. She went from "Aenter, the rround-a-bout" to "Hey, yooze, up dere, turn left"Even so, you guys speak the Kings English and I love it. So I just HAD TO know what he said! d |
