Gravity Blue Leather / Black Roof Combo?

Hi All

Just a few short weeks now until I have to finalise my MCC spec...ordered last May and it's been a long wait.

My spec I am happy with, apart from a nagging doubt: I've gone for Chili Red with a black roof and silver interior trim. Okay so far...but I really like the blue leather seats - but don't want to switch to a blue roof. Does anybody have a blue leather / black roof combo or can anybody imagine it working (or, really not working)?

I know, personal choice and all that...

Thanks

I have the blue leather w/ black roof on a cool blue convertible. I think it looks fantastic, personally. I wanted to have more contrast and the black top gave me that. I think since you are getting the silver trim (vs. body color), you won't have an issue with the orange stitching clashing inside the car either.

I think your planned combination will be very handsome.

Hi Indymini

Many thanks - a positive start! My company in the UK has a satellite office in Baltimore - I've experienced the winter weather you guys get, hope you have the heated seats...!!!

Yeah, heated seats were a must. Although it's hard to complain as the weather today was 67 F. Cooler tomorrow, but warm again the rest of the week.

I have the same spec as indimini and I'm very happy with my decision.
Go for it, you won't regret it.

red, black, blue, graphite

I ordered a red mcsc with black top. The wife made me order the blue leather. I was just going to go for the black vinyl, but she nixed that. I am a bit nervous about the color combo. I did get the graphite trim, btw.

Mine should be made in the 3rd week in Jan, and I ordered in December. Why is your wait so long?

etickt, is this your first MINI? Good to see another 'vert owner in the DC area. Are you going with 16" wheels -- curious how the lower profile 17's will do with the DC roads.

The dark blue is quite dark, so it is hard to tell that it's not black at first glance. I think the dark blue w/ red will go nicely. If you had done red interior trim, that may have been a bit much.

Also curious about which dealer you are buying from. Anyway, that's enough "being nosy". Congrats, I'm sure you'll love it!

Hi etickt

Why the long wait? UK market is being restricted...some dealers get extra allocation, some don't (I've been offered no end of MCSC build slots, but not on the MCS)...but as winter approached I figured I wouldn't push it...

Much happier about the red / black / blue combo now...anyone want to be negative about it?

I'm about 15 miles nw of DC, and it's actually kind of rural out here. I got the 17" wheels, which by the way was another point of contention with the old lady. She got into a conversation with an older customer at the dealer (mini of sterling), and he said the 17" wheels would ride too rough. That had her pressuring me to nuke the sport package, and go with 16" wheels. I know that run flats feel rough, but I have had other cars with 17" wheels before. In fact, my friggin company minivan has 16" wheels. Anyway, I relented on the blue leather. I did think it looked good on the blue car, but just wasn't sure how it would look with red. And I thought we could probably get a leather couch for $1300 too.

This is my first mini. I had a deposit on one two years ago, but had to cancel it when I got another company car.

Excellent choice. The ride on the 17's is not harsh at all. I haven't noticed much, if any, difference between the 17's on the convertible and the 16's I had on my MC.

True, but a couch is not nearly as much fun.

Hey etickt, you must be in Loudoun. I am in Ashburn myself. Is your car here yet? I have seen a nice red MCSC with black bonnet striped a lot on my way down 28 in the mornings. I will have to look closely to see what interior it has.

We should get ours from the dealer sometime this week (I hope).

See you out there.

Dain

Oh, I guess you've met my wife...

I honestly thought the vinyl looked ok. From some of the leak issues, I thought it might last longer too. Just seemed like I wouldn't be getting $1300 more fun out of the car with the leather.

I'm just accross the river in MD. I'd be really close to Sterling if there were a good way to get there. It's about the same distance for me to take the beltway, or White's Ferry to get there. Both take about 45 minutes.

True. Honestly, if they offered a dark blue leatherette that's what I would have chosen. I had the black leatherette (why can't companies just use the word vinyl?) in my MC and thought it was great.

Cool. I'm in Boyds, so not too far from you. I purchased from Towson but used Sterling in the past for service. I'll probably use Towson for service w/ the MCSC just because it's a longer drive.

A lot of Motorers in MD

I see a lot of the DC members are in MD. I guess I will be travelin' across the river if I join in on any events. The wife was lookin into a number of 'fun run' type events the other night. Can't wait to take the MINI down to the Mountain roads.
