Interior full of water. UPDATE Not car's fault!

The floor of my MINI Cooper S Convertible is full of water.

2 months old!

Rubbish car.

Update: since found out this was not the car's fault. Read thread for full details.

You are supposed to put the windows up when it rains.

April Whine: When it rains, I always put the windows up.

Do you think I should put the top up as well?

Jim Ray: what more can I say? £22,000 MINI, 2 months old. Rear n/s floor saturated in water, I mean truly sodden. Front n/s floor very wet. Seats soaked when opening doors after a rain storm.

I am use to Convertibles and their peculiarities, but this MINI has let me down. If I never drove it again, it wouldn't worry me.

If it is just 2 months old, take it back to the dealer and get them to sort it out. Good luck!

What he said. Ours does not leak at all. Water gets on the seats when I open the door when it is raining, same amount that drips on the seats in the tin top.

Thats why the good warranty.

True.

But seriously, can't imagine where the water could be coming from. I think cooper-minx is right, take it back to your dealer. My MCSC and a duck's behind have a lot in common.

Don't say that... He could equate that to the duck $hits and the car is $hit....

I'm happy to report, my cabrio is dry in the rain (and I've been in a few gulley washers)... If I'm caught in the rain and the top's down the only water coming in is coming over the side windows.

The only issues with water I've experienced are:

1) drips from side gutter after/during downpour/carwash with window open

2) need to keep plenty of drinking water on hand to combat parched self on hot, sunny days

Seriously, just adding another voice that something sounds very wrong with your cabrio. See your dealer for repair soonest!

What more details do you want? With the windows shut and the roof up, the car leaks water.

Sorry guys, but after 3 MINIs, my love affair with these cars is over. One of the main issues with any convertible car is the worry if it will be water tight. 2 months in to ownership, my car is not - and it hasn't even been through the good old British winter yet.

Added to that there is zero durability in the hood.

Mine will go.

Sounds like you have made the right decision. Good luck, and have a nice life.

Well, the plot sickens.

This problem started after the car was returned to the dealer for a 'product enhancement' something about re-routing some cables. Anyway I now learn that the dealer put the car through their automatic car wash.

The inside has now been dried out, but I can't replicate the water ingress, except for the odd drip on the windows which is acceptable. If I point a water hose pipe directly at the seals they will let water in, but that is still acceptable.

My only conclusion is that the dealer either partly left one of the n/s windows open, or had not shut the passenger door properly prior to entering the wash.

I will keep my eye on it and just hope for some heavy rain soon to prove my theory.
