Just being reading a few threads and reviews of "other ppls cars" and it seems most people seem to go for an induction kit of some sorts... just wondering how this affects the warranty?
Just been recently stung with my current car, not having a warranty and having work done on it which would have otherwise been covered... One of the reason for the mini is the warranty/service package, but want to mod it in an "approved" way. I know you could go down the JCW route, but that seems abit pricey.
What have you guys done and how has it affected your warranties??
I have a Pipercross Viper induction on my Cooper and a PlayMINI Catback Exhaust. I've had the car back to MINI a couple of times for "issues" and they've never said anything about them.
However, if they can attribute a major failure to the aftermarket component, you may have a problem. The likes of induction and cat back are unlikely to cause any problems.
Yeah can see where your coming from. My problem is that after a recent major failure, if something similar happens (my engine blew) would they still turn a blind eye to an induction kit, pulleys etc. From the sounds of things it seems really the only safe way is to get approved mods, like JCW. So what are the difference in price? (i could look like )
I think from the threads i have read most dealers arnt bothered, but i thinking about total security if something serious does crop up and i think i would be up that creek without a paddle. Had dealings with BMW in the past... sneaky blighters they are
It's probable that you could achieve JCS power with 3rd party mods for a lesser price however, it's what you want to do. If you feel concerned that you would be putting yourself in a precarious situation, then go with the safest option which of course is the JCW route
I have an MC and have done the Induction and Cat Back... I have also done MTH ECU map which is the more likely one to cause warranty issues and well, aside from changing a whole bunch of hardware, it's about all I can do to it.
Sure... I think that is the most likey route for me.. more for piece of mind. Mind you if i can get away with mods that can be removed prior to service/claims, then id go that route...
Thanks for the response tho. Gives me a few ideas to think about.
