United-Kingdom New MCS today. Any tips?

Hi Folks,

Just two hours before the waiting comes to an end and I trade in the trusty Puma to pick up a HB/W MCS. It's six years since I had the pleasure of a spanking new motor so I'm out of practice. Anything you can suggest I should remember before I depart from the dreaded squealer? ((Constructive (!) suggestions very much welcomed. ))
Cheers.

Just make sure you contain the excitement before you drive away from the dealership... you would not want to just go out hit the road and then hit somthing else... good luck, and enjoy your new ride...be sure to post some pics.

Thanks, guys. That thing about being nervous and having a prang has been keeping me awake all night. I'll be granny-driving it home and for the next 1200 miles, too!

Not long to go now

Its hard to do but when you look at the car at the dealers check every option has been supplied (& is working) and that there are no problems with the bodywork, marks etc inside or out.

And do take some pics

Yup ABG, will do. My spec is v. bare bones so, I guess, if you've seen one HB/W, etc...
Still, it will be mine (and the first new MCS I've had since 1970 when BMC made them!)

What ever anyone else, including the dealer, says - arrange to get the oil and filter changed at the end of the "break in" period.

I agree. Good long-term thinking as far as wear is concerned. Had my last car six years so there's a good chance that I will hang onto this one (if it keeps its nose clean) and oil/filtration is IMO the most important aspect to watch. BTW, car is now home and snugged up in the garage for its first night at home; got home unscathed!
Cheers from the Brynster.

You were right, ABG. Forty quid's worth of rubber floormats not in place but, in fairness, it WAS an oversight, quickly remedied. Just as well that I wasn't home before I noticed, though. Everything else seems AOK and I am looking forward to some fun with the new beast.

Thanks for remembering, Dawn. My new little car is snugged up in the garage for its first night at home. When it does need a haircut, I'll certainly call you for those spare scissors.

Rakey, please read above msg to Dawn. I can't wake it up until tomorrow. TBH if you have seen one HB/W then you have probably seen mine: pretty standard. Have only driven it back from the showroom, so far, but well impressed. I can see why they're so loved. (Will take a few pics, though, just to prove it exists!) Thanks for your interest.
