HK and iPod Question

I have an '05 MCS with the Harman Kardon sound system. Is there an input somewhere on the HK system for either an iPod, or a sat radio?

Hi,

According to my knowledge you have to get the iPod adapter installed. There is no way to simply plug the iPod into your stereo system. I have booked my car in to get the iPod adapter installed, however I only have radio boost, not HK.

I Love my Mini

The inexpensive AUX input adaptor will work with the iPod or any portable audio device that has a headphone type output - but you cannot *control* the iPod from the MINI.

The iPod adaptor is much more expensive but does allow you to do track forward/back from the MINI (useful if you have the steering wheel controls) - however it requires that your music be stored in a particular way.

Aftermarket iPod adaptors offer different levels of features, functionality and reliability.

PS: You will find much more and better info in the "Interior & ICE" section of MINI2

there are a number of options open to you if you want to use you ipod with your hk, from the radio adaptors, to ice link plus. If you search the forums, you can find it all.

I have the Ice link plus, and are very happy with it. It links the ipod to the head unit through a cable to the back of the head unit, sort of like a cd changer. and it allows you to use the ipod features fron the headunit, it even displays the track title and artist name. For me it has been pretty faultless, it is occasionly slow to fast forward, and occasionly the ipod sort of looses connection. Works great for me though. Plus have the ipod hidden in the glove box (still take it out if worried though).

Down side not too cheap.
