Should you obey the engine breakin procedure?

Should you Obey the breakin proceedures!!
Has anyone read the section in the owners manual, Page 76. bottom left hand column. "You should comply with these Break-In proceedures if the engine has to be replaced at a later point" the first 1200 miles do not exceed 4500 rpm and 95 mph.. Not to blow smoke here, literally. but I know that the ecm (electronic control module) ECU whatever they wanna call it today is quite capable of storing speed/ rpm data curves.. they were doing it back in 95'
What am I saying?
Well to be straight foreward...
BMW/Mini could easily find "Overrev and speed infractions"
so resulting engine trouble or trouble later in life could be in your hands and pocketbook because the designated breakin procedule was not properly followed.. ie. voided the warranty....
Just something to think about.. I know being the owner of a first year model s. there will be bugs.. Id rather bmw exterminate than me..

YES

There's a lot of talk about this on other threads but I believe it to be very important. There was even a lab analysis done on somebody's break-in oil which confirmed my doubts about going 10k between changes.

More important than the break-in rev limit I think is to be varying engine speed and avoiding full-load situations.

I also think the first oil change should be done right after break-in.

Cheers
