Getting a new MCS in January... need help/tips/tricks...etc !!

Greetings All.

So the wifey has placed an order for a new MCS, expecting delivery early January '06. (almost sounds like a baby !)

Just looking to get some advice for a n00b MCS owner. Tips ? Tricks ? Do's and Dont's ?

Any advice would be great. As soon as the car gets in, Ill make sure to update it into the registry.

The first 1250 miles will be the longest 1250 miles of your life .

I highly recommend Invisi-shield/Clear-bra for the MINI. Had it on my 03 MCS and will get it for my 06 MCSc.

Ahh yes... my cousin has this on his 2002 VW Gti and it has helped the paint withstand the test of time incredibly.

Thank you !

I reccomend you do a search on Breaking the Engine In: there's a few methods, which one you choose will have to be upto you.

I went for the controversial drive it hard straight outa the dealership method (there's a web link for this somewhere), haven't had any problems yet - touch wood.

Hi, my tip - Don't get a JCW mod, go for some other aftermarket power upgrade. You'll just love how the MCS can be modded, certainly something not to be ruled out. Insurance and warranty seems to be fine up to the point you mod the engine massively.

Too many mods to list, PM me if the cat needs killing...

Be prepared for the huge cost of all those cleaning products, to keep your new mini looking nice

Take some time to go though the site, esp. the interior section.

Loads of post about little things you may not know otherwise, like

Headlight washes come on after the 3rd windscreen wash.

turning the engine off before the headlights leaves the lights on for a period of time (dealer programable) to give you some light to find your keys etc.

Holding the key in the locked position closes the windows if they are open (not sure about sunroof, dont have one).

Some of these things are model/year specific so check that as well (e.g I believe , in later models you have to flick to main beam once the engines off to get the lights stay on for a bit)

Oh yeah, and you'll also find out that Mickeythemini is a God among Mini's, to be worshipped, with the occational sacrifice
