Mini TIME LINE & How long to cross from the UK to the USA?

WEll, Im trying to help All eager "To be" Mini owners, establish a time frame to go by..

1.March 23rd Placed 500$ deposit on March 23rd
for Cooper S Custom order

2.May 18th Dealer called for Order Confirmation.

3 Began Tracking via web.. original production date for
july 5th. shortly moved to
june 21st

4. e-mailed mini usa from owners lounge

Was told the mini was sitting on the dock in the uk on
June 26th

5. July 12th Early morning the Mini is still on the dock
Later evening the Mini Finally switches
status to "EN_ROUTE"

Now for my question!
Does Anyone have a reasonably intelligent guess, Answer to how long it takes a cargo ship to go from the UK to the USA? . I mean real time not a guess,

Hope this helps other Anxious owners.. Trust me there is no comfort in the 3 month waiting period that I have endured allready, but I think its easier When you atleast have a Clue as to whats going on..

The approximate time for an autocarrier to cross from Southampton to N.Y. is 8-10 days, some are a bit faster, some a bit slower. Sometimes they stop at an additional port between the two locations. If you want to send me a P.M. I will tell you which ship your car is on and when it is due to arrive in N.Y. Send me the last 5 numbers of your VIN.

If you check the Wallenius Wilhelmsen website, you should be able to track exactly when they expect the ship to dock. You just need the last part of your VIN.

You may also want to check for the threads on how long cars have been at the VPC.

My status, like alot of others, changed to "En Route" on July 12 also, which was about a week after the ship left Southampton.

I don't want to give you false hope but I think your car is probably on the Traviata and due in New Jersey on Monday 7/15.

Gosh, a three month wait...

I resemble your handle. As an example, the Takasago departed Southampton yesterday, arrives N.Y. on the 21st, then on to Brunswick GA on the 23rd, through the Canal and gets to Port Hueneme CA on the 5th of August.

Thanks Tom D. Thats exactly what I needed to know. If it is about 23 days to west coast port and another, say, 10 days to clear VPC, get trucked to Utah and get prepped, I should figure on about five weeks from production date to dlivery.

Unless I get held up in some nightmare like Little Bear.

At work I have to be replaced with experienced staff in advance, always a problem and needing at least one month advance notice.

By the way, the kids at work all think the MINIs are great. Maybe not the best opinions since they have all committed crimes. But even the car thieves like MINI.

I just spent the day At the Autocrosses scca sanctioned and was pleased to see A austin cooper and an 1970 cooper america there.. great looking cars and man did the Run good.. 7 seconds faster than some street vette's!

Go to Cargo Tracking
Track by Cargo - select Auto
and put in the last part of your VIN starting with TDXXXXX

It will tell you when it was loaded, which ship, when it is scheduled to land, when it is released...

Hey great news.. It is on the traviate too. Our Mini's are Partying together as we speak..
I was able to get the tracking info.. but where did you come up with a port date? i didnt see it but i cant go to the schedules section either...

I e-mailed a scan of your "Cargo Status History". If you go back to that page and click on the "Voyage: EQ214-TRA" that will take you to the page which gives the port schedule for the Traviata.

Congratulations, with a late June build date and already almost here, you are one of the lucky ones.
