France French Road Trip

Hello everybody, I've just bought a second hand Mini Cooper S and I am thrilled with it!

Next month I am driving to the French Alps (about 700 miles) for a week of skiing, people think I'm stupid not to be flying (I hate planes!) but they don't drive Minis. Anyway, to my question. I have been reading people's opinions on which fuel to use for best economy and performance, I see that Tesco's and Esso's best fuels have been recommended. Can anyone recommend the best fuel to be used, or ones to avoid, on my long journey through France?

Many thanks.

Just got back from La Rosiere. Up until Thursday all roads clear. But the higher resorts have now had up to 100 cm of snow dumped on them during the last few days and more due on its way. Snow ploughs working hard to clear it but will need to take a set of snow chains with you. Saw a 4 wheel drive nearly lose it in front of us without chains! Sorry can't help about the petrol but enjoy your ski.

I can help a little as you are going to be heading down my way. In Germany I ususally use Esso or Aral Super Unleaded. In France, I have simply used what I could find and never noticed a problem.

I'd love to see some pics of a road trip through France. The wife and I are thinking about taking a vacation in France next year. Is there a place to rent MINIs in Europe? I'd love some tips. We want to tour around Europe...
