Yes, you've read right.. I am seriously about to sell my 03 MCS with 23.000 km on the clock. Then, I have to get a new car.. Are the newer models of MCS 05-06 far better than the 03-version? Should I wait for the new version in 2007 to buy a car? I am very quality-orientated and does not like any rattles or other mis-sounds for that matter. That's why I'm selling my 03, however, I love the car to bits..
This is a really tough decision, however, I promised the buyer to get it for £ 23 400..
A Z4, a new MCS or the new version of the MINI are possible options..
New build MCS (certainly 2005 facelift) is certainly better quality. I don't know if there will be new issues with the new 2007 version? Have to wait and see.
If I had the money I would buy one of the last supercharged MCSJCW from the factory.
Just my opinion.
I would get an 06'. Seems to me everyone on here and NAM are commenting that this is by far the best MINI out, and will be (unless the 07' is better). Everything is there and proven on the 06', including the new gears and all of the kinks/rattles are hopefully worked out. Like Capsaisin said, I would also get an 06' before the 07's come out. Mis well get a proven MINI while you can! Remember, you can ALWAYS trade in the 06' for an 07', but you can't trade the 07' in for an 06'(new, to your specs)!
They certainly wouldn't be stupid enough to bring one out that had less performance, and I'd bet it'd be more fuel economic too. They'll add just enough features to make people consider upgrading sooner than they'd normally want to.
It's pretty subjective, personally I love it. If they do upscale the interior it won't make it cheaper, that's for sure.
Whoa there!! I take strong issue with that! This is a car that still has waiting lists even though a new model is arriving shortly. Any other car and the dealers would be slashing prices!
It certainly won't push up the values but only time will tell how "HARD" they will be hit.
If I was you and I was after a hardtop then, if I could wait to sse the new model/spec, then I would.
The current facelifted version certainly ironed out a lot of issues and who's to say the new one won't have a few.
btw. I'd certainly I'd consider the "new" Z4 (except the 2 litre, from what I have heard) and the coupe looks pretty lovely IMHO.
Sell the 03, buy a MCSC, then when the new 07 comes out (and your not affected by the facelift change yet) chop in the MCSC for a new MCS, if the new one is any good.
Well, haven't sold my 03 MCS yet, although the buyer is very keen, I do not really want to sell my MINI... That shows how much the MINI affects your way of thinking about your car. However, I am seriously excited about the 2007-version and a bit afraid of the "older" version 2. hand price..
I recently traded my 03/03 for an 01/06 and am really pleased I did. Not that I ever had any real issues with the previous car, but this one feels better built. I went from a pretty stock MCS to a MCS Checkmate with Recaros and a bunch of other stuff and I still get in it and am awed at how special if feels The combination of the space blue dash, anthracite headliner, recaro seats and all the cool additional night time lighting that the Minis now have just makes it feel so special. I loved my previous mini but I'm absolutely treasuring this one
I kind of like the idea of small capacity supercharged engines so I really wanted to get in before this model ended. I don't plan on modding my engine and I figure that, unmodified, the everyday drivability (and sound) of a supercharger is going to be better than a turbo even though all indications are that the new turbo S engine will be a good one.
