To be fair, he's talking about the engineering, not the warranty. He makes an awful big thing about there being some 'dodgy methods' for tuning the standard S, and with greatest respect, this is making something out of nothing - all the tuners have pretty much the same approach. There is very little going on in the 210-220 bhp region of tuning that causes any problems that a JCW wouldn't also be suseptable too. Most failures I've seen on aftermarket tuning is the snapping SC belt - and this is common on standard cars as well as JCW cars.
ITs only above 230 bhp do things become exponetially more fragile. If the guy being quoted was releasing a JCW GP with 240+bhp then I feel he might have the right to make the comments that he does. However, these alledged 'Intercooler' changes probably do nothing for actual reliable bhp increase, where as a rev range limit uplift to achieve extra bhp just looks like an AMD or BBR or any other tuner product with another name.
I dont want to start a slapping match here, so lets not get away from the fact that the GP is getting superb reviews .
