| Probably open BMW/Mini up to legal action if they did another production run. Its been sold as a 2000 ltd edition and advertised and reported in the press as such. The press would have a field day - remember Mini has had a good run with the press they are probably dying for a story to sink their teeth into. And could you imaginge the ammount of cancelled orders..... It would also de-value any future ltd editions - if they do it once they could do it again. Personally I think someones telling you a few porkies. Its too late in the day to do it, the last GP's will not be built until September and that is around the time the current model ceases production. Its the swansong car for a reason. |

| They are in demand because there are only 2000. BMW aren't doing this for the money as I can't believe they'll be making much if anything on these cars. It is purely to promote the 'Mini' brand and to get people talking about the car again, to build up interest with the new Model coming out. It'd not be in their interest to up the numbers of cars. |

| I seem to recall that Renault did the same thing with their Clio Williams, no? Not one, not two, but two-and-a-half series of the "limited edition" (correct me if I'm wrong; we never got the car over here). Of course, we don't get the GP in Canada either, so you'll forgive me if I don't shed too many tears for your predicament. ![]() If I was so fortunate as to have one on order I wouldn't be too upset about 3,000 of total production; Ferrari builds just under 5,000 cars a year and no one gets too wound up about their lack of exclusivity. | Thinking about it Volkswagen are in the same situation with the new Golf GTI. Although its not a ltd edition its still restricted production. The demand is there to sell more but if they produced more would the car still be as desirable? would they be able to sell the volume? Probably not and Volkswagen have already stated they will not increase production - the rarity creates the demand, keeps people interested in thir brand and its a selling point of the car. |

| I have been told that you will only be able to order any of the specific GP parts with your chassis number. There will be limited supplies of GP only spare parts and they are being restricted to the GP's - which makes sense. (I would love to know how many spare bodykits will be on stock.....) Saying that I dont think it will be too long before the aftermarket guys start cloning GP parts. The transfer kits are already available....... |
