December 2003 MCS JCW

Hi - new to this board.
Looking at purchasing a December 2003 MCS JCW, and the stated power is 200bhp.
I have driven a MCS & a 2003 MCS with a JCW package fitted only 6 months ago.
My question is what the difference will be (newer JCW pack but same base car), and is there a possibility to upgrade, or is the price and work tbd prohibitive?
Many thanks
Gareth.

Smile Welcome to MINI2 ...

There is an upgrade kit (air intake, larger fuel injectors and ECU remap) to take a 200PS Works car to 210PS but I have no idea what it costs in Europe.

Many thanks for the reply - what's the cost state-side of the upgrade??
Can it be purchased online and then installed by your chosen mechanic??
Is it worth it, or is the difference very slight??
Cheers
Gareth.

In the US the Upgrade Kit now lists for $560 plus the cost of 1.5 hours labor to fit it.

The 200-210 upgrade replaces the fuel injectors (has a slight negative effect on economy) and replaces the air filter with one that has a flap that opens for more intake at 4500rpm - the biggest effect is more noise at high revs. But there is some additional power / pull at high revs.

Personally, I'd get the upgrade for the noise

It's well worth doing; think it can only be done by a dealer. The 210 version pulls better in high gears at motorway speeds too.

Had mine done at JCW in October 2004.

Cost then was (all in GBP):
Parts 285
Labour 60 (1 hour)
VAT 60
Total 405
