Coolant Leak in late 06 build MCS

Shortly after taking delivery of our GP and getting it home, 3000 miles away , the hubby noticed a small amount of coolant under the car after parking it overnight. We took it to the service department and they replaced a gasket.

The coolant leak came back. From talking to an MA at our dealer, it's not GP specific but has happened with some of the late 06 MCS cars. There is a problem with the thermostat housing allowing a very small bit of coolant to leak overnight, about a TBSP. We may have not noticed but our garage floor is off white and the green coolant shows up very well.

So if you normally park on something dark or absorbant, might be a good idea to park over newspapers one night?

I believe that many cars have had leaks from the expansion tanks. Mine has and I've heard of others. Maybe this is what it is??!

This is the most unprofessional bit of site management I have seen since I was banned from a certain other site...at least they had the excuse that they were enthusiasts who had strong views and not professionals paid to keep thier cool!

This is the 1st I've heard of the thermostat housing being leaky, but it also doesn't suprise me very much. I wonder if they changed materials/design from earlier R50/R53 years? Time to go loot the junkyard for early t-stat housings!
