Question Cooper S badge replaced wrong

Hi guys

I've just been given back my MCS after someone keyed the boot and side. I have noticed the Cooper S badge has been replaced lower than it was before. Is this a problem?

Thanks

Inga

How can it be a problem, it's only stuck on?

I know, but if it comes off again then the stickiness will come off it! I just meant when the time comes to sell it, will it be obvious that the boot was damaged? Will the price of the car fall?

If it does then I'll take it back and tell them to re-do it!

I doubt anyone will even notice, so don't worry about resale value being affected.

It is highly unlikely to fall off, as it is applied in exactly the same way as the original factory-fitted badge, but you are right that it would not stick back on properly if you try and move it.

If you really don't like how it looks then just take it off. There are plenty of MINIs out there with no model badges, so it wouldn't look out of place.

If you feel strongly enough about it though, why not take it back anyway and get the dealer to put another one on in the right place?

I'll see what I think over the next couple of days and if I don't like it then I'll take it back. Thanks for your help!

Personally, it always annoys me when badges aren't put back on properly after repair work - shows a lack of attention to detail

If it was my MINI I'd keep seeing the badge and thinking it wasn't right

It will affect the resale value as that is, to the trained eye, a clear indication of "something going on" at the rear of the car. There is no excuse by a bodyshop for putting it in the wrong place. Take it back and get them to do it again with a new badge. Or you can remove it yourself by using dental floss behind it - but you will need a new badge as you are right about the adhesive not retaining its strength.

Good luck.

Tim

Id take it back mate and get the dealer to apply a new one, I mean you payed for it to be repaired back to factory standard so why accept anything less, alternativly just take it off and de-badge the car!

It wasn't done by a dealer, it was done by an independent garage as BMW was charging three times more for the work to be done which I couldn't afford.

How would the independent garage know where the badge has to go?

Take a photo of the back of an MCS in with you, there should be plenty on this site. I would get them to sort it out - it would bug me if it were mine.

They have put the badge in line with the middle of the number plate instead of towards the top of the number plate. Is this obvious to the trained eye that the rear of my car has been tampered with?

I don't think you will be happy with it if you don't get it sorted. They can't charge you any more as it is their mistake. They really should have checked the position.
