Question Final inspection recomendations before pickup

Like many of you who have gone before me, I am finally approaching the day of delivery. I wanted to get some experienced feedback on specific details or known problems I should look for before accepting delivery. I greatly appreciate any insight you can provide.

Thanks,
Jim

I think someone might have started a FAQ on this. I'm not sure if it fell through or not. Try the search, there's a thread out there. I plan on asking the same question when my time comes. Good luck.

Other than looking at everything visible, opening and closing everything that opens and closes, listening for stange sounds (the S produces some natuarlly such as the blower and steering assist whines), I would add the following:

1. Make sure each key will start the car, not just open it. I had one immobilizer problem.
2. Operate the seat adjustment and get into the rear from both sides.
3. Operate all items that you can such as lights, AC, wipers, radio, etc.
4. If you live far away and intend to change oil before 10,000 miles, remember to get a filter or two.

Try not to grin the whole day. (I failed.)

Thread refresh

Sorry to artifically revive this thread but I wanted some of the owners out there who might not visit Mini2 as often any more (obviously out motoring) to have a chance to see this thread and offer comments.

Thanks for your input. The Mini you save could be mine

Hi Jim

You should take a special look on leather seams, especially on the gearing box (knob), the steering wheel... I heard about some quality problems in this area and they already changed the knob of my gearing box.

Next thing is the control of the side view mirror. They sometimes turn it by 180°, so you have to switch to the right side to control the left miror and the other way round.

If you get an automatic A.C. check the functions. Especially when it is turned off. Mine is heating my sneakers to fluid when turned of. This can only be checked during a test drive when the engine has operations temperature.

I hope this helps., Rgds. Sven
