how do i know?

hi,

im in the market for a post facelift cooper s (r53), and wanted to know a couple of things..

how do i know if the car has a LSD or not? the seller may just tell me it has when he might not even have a clue.

and would it be a completely different car to a cooper, the last thing i want is to buy a cooper s and feel that its just a slight upgrade of my current car..

LSD was made standard on the Cooper S with the Chili pack in November 2004. The facelift started in June 2004 but the LSD wasn't added till November (I think) so any 54 registered after November 04 will have it if chili pack was specced. I think this is right. Probably wait for some more replies to confirm that though!

Laura, you are bang on right there!

Having made the change from a much loved 2004 Cooper to a 2007 registered R53 Cooper S they feel like completely different cars; believe me, YOU WILL notice the difference!!

We loved the Cooper and it was really hard parting with her, but the R53S is in a whole different league and I'm completely nuts about it!

LSD wasn't available until January 2005 builds.

What he said ^^^ (Jan 2005 onwards it was option).

But also I'm pretty sure it wasn't part of the UK Chilli Pack as standard from then, but you'd have to search a bit to try and confirm that as I don't have the information to hand. (http://www.mini2.com/forum/search.php)

My MCS was a MArch 2005 - so a Feb 2005 build and that had LSD on it and I thought the LSD was in the chilli pack from Jan 2005 onwards?

Maybe it was straight on then from Jan. Wasn't sure.

The Rear fog is clear on the pre facelift S's and red on the post. Plus exhaust pops more
